Investigations Engineer (Graduate)

Job No: PNCC488
Location: Palmerston North

Are you a recent graduate, or have a couple of years’ experience, and looking for an opportunity to develop your investigation and engineering skills? We currently have over 556 km of urban and rural road network with the challenge of managing competing demands for roading space between vehicles and active transport users - help us work out what we need for tomorrow!

It takes a lot of investigation, research, and planning to ensure that it’s convenient and efficient to move people and goods around our city. And, as you know, it’s not possible to build new roads to cope with increasing demand. Increasingly we need to find ways in increase capacity and persuade people to choose other options to the car for getting around. You’ll use your strategic planning skills to optimise the performance of our current roading infrastructure, and to plan for long term improvements and changes as we respond to climate change and the growth of micro-mobility.

The freedom to drive and park is dear to many people’s hearts, so you’ll be ensuring that affected and interested parties are well informed, and given timely, accurate, and relevant information about potential projects.  Your communication skills will be essential to ensure the community and directly affected people understand exactly what is being proposed. There aren’t many other roles where you can play a part in shaping the future of the city and contribute to delivering improved transport outcomes.  You will have a can-do attitude and take challenges in your stride.

In this job you’ll be working with a diverse range of people and have the support of a passionate and professional team.  You’ll develop your knowledge and skills with opportunities to work on a varied range of issues and projects.

If you’re ready to kick-start your career in Transportation Engineering, please apply today!
