Palmerston North City Council’s social housing residents need someone on their side who will look out for them and make sure their needs are being met. The right person will rise to the challenge of working with our clients in a positive and empathetic manner.

The Housing Tenancy Officer contributes to the management and administration of our social housing activity and will be part of a team responsible for ensuring tenants are healthy, connected, safe and supported in our community.

To be successful in this role you will be prepared to put our tenants “front and centre” in all decision-making. Previous tenancy management experience and a thorough knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act are desirable. A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, but not necessary. Your excellent customer-centric service and communication skills will be an advantage in building and maintaining relationships, with the diverse internal and external stakeholders, and meeting the needs of our tenants.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

As part of the Council's Management Team Drug and Alcohol Policy, to ensure the safety of those who come into contact with Council, applicants for employment in safety sensitive positions must undergo a drug test before being employed. All applicants for employment outside of safety sensitive areas may undergo a pre-employment drug test at the Council's discretion.  If an applicant fails the test, he/she will not be considered for appointment, or if the applicant has already been appointed, the employment may be cancelled or terminated.
