Communications & Marketing Advisor
Palmerston North City Council was the 2018 Supreme Winner at the LGNZ Excellence Awards and we’re on the lookout for an experienced communications and marketing expert to provide leadership and manage the communications support for Council’s internal communications and Community Unit.
This role sits within the Communications and Content team and reports to the Head of Communications and Content within the newly formed Marketing and Communications Unit.
The role will work closely with Community staff in a coordinated way so their activities are aligned and benefit the wider Marketing and Communications Unit, and Council’s vision and goals. It will also manage the quality and distribution of the Council’s internal communications.
You’ll manage the community brands and profile, be an account manager for the Community Unit to ensure council strategies are aligned and promotional opportunities maximised.
You’ll find that majority of your time will be spent, developing, writing, advising and managing to support communications for Council’s Community unit and internal communications.
If you’re self-motivated, have good written and verbal communication skills, and are excited by the possibilities of growing a city culture and vibrancy aligning our Council Units to speak with one voice through communications campaigns and activities within a new team; have a can-do attitude and able to work under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced environment then this is a role for you.
The days of work are Monday to Friday; however due to the nature of the work, flexibility is a must. This means some evening and weekend work may be required from time to time.
The focus of the Communications and Marketing unit is to deliver the Council’s vision – Small City Benefits, Big City Ambition.
