Events Team Leader

Job No: PNCC144
Location: Palmerston North

Community events play a very important role in the life and vibrancy of our city. Council is enthusiastic about the opportunities to grow events in the city and have now resourced a new events team to lead this. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team charged with evolving the role events will play in a creative and exciting city.

As the Events Team Leader within our Libraries and Community Services unit of Palmerston North City Council you will grow, motivate and inspire a high performing team responsible for the coordination of Council and community events and the facilitation of internal events support across Council. This is a busy role and best suited to a person who thrives in a dynamic and challenging environment as our service delivery and support for events continues to evolve.

Your proven relationship management skills means that you will enjoy interacting with key stakeholders and value their contribution to the vibrancy of our city. You’ll be using your communication skills, initiative and leadership ability coupled with events experience to ensure that the team effectively acts as enablers, facilitators and coordinators of events. While a relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage, we’re more interested in your experience in event development and management and your ability to develop and lead a dynamic team towards the delivery of great things with the right mix of community engagement and innovation. Now is a great time to join us and make a valuable contribution to what unfolds.

This is a fulltime role working Monday to Friday. Flexibility is a must as events often occur outside normal business hours and so some evening and weekend work will be required on a regular basis, particularly during the summer months.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a great team. If you’re an organised, proactive and enthusiastic person seeking a challenge then this position has your name written all over it. Apply today.
