A unique opportunity has arisen to lead the Council’s commercial and industrial land-use planning at a time when Palmerston North is experiencing significant new growth and inward investment.
Growth in the logistics and warehousing sector has been particularly strong due to the City’s central location and collaboration with Government on key infrastructure projects. The Senior Policy Planner is a key position in enabling the Council to plan for this growth.
You will own and further refine the Council’s centres based commercial strategy and play a key role in ongoing review and development of the District Plan. You will also have a role in helping align the District Plan with new planning standards, including the development of a new E-Plan.
The role sits within the progressive and award-winning City Planning Design and Environmental Policy team, a multi-disciplinary team containing planning, urban design, GIS, environmental sustainability and climate change experts. The team plays a critical role in helping the City achieve its vision – small city benefits, big city ambition.
Proven experience in managing and fronting up on complex planning projects is a must in this role. You will put your excellent relationship management skills to good use as you build and develop relationships with a range of stakeholders; including property developers, landowners, technical consultants, and infrastructure experts.
If you are looking for an opportunity to contribute to the development of Palmerston North, have experience with the Resource Management Act, and hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Planning, please apply today!
