Social Media Specialist (fixed term)

Palmerston North City Council was a Supreme Winner at the LGNZ Excellence Awards and we're on the lookout for an experienced social media specialist to manage the social media channels used by the Council’s Marketing and Communications Unit.
If you’re self-motivated, and excited by the possibilities of growing a city culture and vibrancy through best practice use of social media, contributing to a motivated and dynamic new team; have a can-do attitude and able to work under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced environment with variety then we’re keen to hear from you.
In this role you’ll build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification as part of the channel mix within the broader marketing and communications strategies and campaign plans.
Key skills and experience include developing and implementing social media strategy across large organisations, developing content, hunting for news stories, social media governance, and social media campaign management.
This is a fixed term parental leave cover position. The anticipated end date is mid-April 2020. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday; however due to the nature of the work, flexibility is a must. This means some evening and weekend work may be required from time to time.
This role will sit within the Communications and Content team and report to the Head of Communications and Content.
The focus of the Communications and Marketing unit is to deliver the Council’s vision – Small City Benefits, Big City Ambition.
